4 June 1901 — 3 Savile Row
Tuesday. 4th [June 1901]. Today I had a one horse brougham from East on hire & took Nellie out with me driving at 3 o’clock. I went to 8 Onslow Gardens & found Connie there; she had come up for the day from Dropmore to do some business & had not much time to talk to me so I did not remain long. Poor thing she seemed restless & worried & said “It gets worse”– I knew it would be so. I know it all so well. She was working to collect all the papers Charlie had belonging to P. & Pss Christian of Schleswig Holstein to whom he was Comptroller of the House. Came home to 5 o’cl tea—Gertie Seymer came to see us. Bee Eliot came to dine with Nell & me.
