5 June 1901 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. 5th [June 1901]. Nellie had a bad headache & returned early from her shop & lay on my bed the rest of the day. Felicia came to lunch with me. At 3 I drove out in my brougham & called at Cav. Sqr on Onie Oranmore. Blanche is still away at Bessborough. I took Irène out driving with me. We called on Lady Thompson at 35 Wimpole Street—& found her in & very pleased to see us. She tells us that Sir Henry Thompson who is 82 is sitting up an automobile! We went on to a few more errands & then returned to Savile Row to tea at 5. Lionel Guest came & remained a long time working my sewing machine & type writer. He is always interested in machinery. Ruth Du Cane called. She is sitting up in lodgings in London & has got a secretary’s place. I dined alone– Nelly got up & came into the drawing room in the evening being better–
