25 June 1901 — 3 Savile Row
Tuesday. 25th [June 1901]. I went out with Kate on foot in the morning to Christies the auctioneer to see a Sevres china bowl which has been sent to be sold by Lindsey. It is a present from George VI when he stood godfather to my uncle Lord Lindsey. It is thought it may sell for £2000– It is an oval shaped bowl with deep blue ground & has bouquets of flowers. There were also 2 Louis XV commodes belonging to the D. of Leeds to be sold. After lunch Kate left me & returned home to Peterborough. Nellie & I drove in afternoon & went to Mr Bain’s shop in Haymarket. Princess Aimée Cariati came to tea–
