5 July 1901 — 3 Savile Row | |
Friday. 5th [July 1901]. Today is the 7th anniversary of my great loss. I had wanted to get away from the house & be quiet but the world stops for no one—& I could not manage it—of course I wd not say anything about it– D Pablo Casals came to luncheon & afterwards I took him to the British Museum & showed him the Assyrian sculptures discovered by Henry. He was immensely impressed by all he saw & seemed quite dumbfounded. Had a quiet evening. | |
