29 September 1901 — Dolobran, Haverford, Pennsylvania
Sunday. 29th [September 1901]. Mr & Mrs Rodman called for me in their carriage soon after ten oclock & took me to morng service at the church– No one else in the house attempted to go. Mr Griscom said having been twice to church in a week on account of the murder of the President he was not going again till next Easter. Juan Riaño turned up at 8 P.M. with his mother’s luggage. The boat race that was run yesterday between the Columbia & Shamrock was a near thing but the latter was beaten by 30 seconds– Mr & Mrs Griscom, Nellie, Juan & I went for a drive in the omnibus. We all dined with the Bettles a farewell dinner–
