15 February 1902 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 15th [February 1902]. After lunch Emilia & I went to Countess Albrizzi hoping to hear something about Byron & Isabella Teotochi, to see autographs & letters—to our disappointment [she] merely showed us a paper with a note by old Rawdon Brown abt a letter of Byron’s on the subject—& also a bust by Canova of a Helen of Troy. I went to Rietti’s to find an old frame for my portrait of Rosalba by Longhi & was successful but it began to rain & to blow so we came home early. Mme Herasti called after wh I went out with the Bishop of Peterborough & I took him to the jeweller Missiaglia where he bought a present for his wife. I was tempted to buy a pearl cross at the same time. On my return I found the Prefect & his wife with Emilia paying her a farewell visit & the Harstons just leaving. The wind got up at night & it was cold & stormy.
