16 February 1902 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 16th [February 1902]. It blew so hard there was no going out all day. After lunch M. & Mme Bompard came & Trombini having had to walk round by the bridge as the men of the traghetti refused to go across. I showed the Bompards my modelling. He blamed me for not taking models. Afterwards Mme B & Trombini played duetts on 2 pianos till 4 oclock when we had tea & Mr Montalba came– We had engaged ourselves to go to tea with Bss Reinelt but had to send excuses—& she sent me a capon & some marrons glaces. Emilia & I restrung my big Salagossa coral & silver bead necklace & put it into the glass cabinet. The evening was sad being our last together but I read aloud, finished Molmentis, worked & packed her typewriter & said nothing about our feelings & went to bed at 11– I bought the pearl cross for £20.
