6 April 1902 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 6th April [1902]. Got a letter by the early post from Ct Seckendorff saying he & his cousin Taxis propose to come & stay with me abt 17th so I wrote to say I shall be glad to see them. I went to morning service calling for Iduna & taking her also. I also brought Mme Wiel back. Did not go out in the afternoon but muddled away over modelling the fisher boy till tea time. Then Mr Byard came to tea & to bid me good bye as he leaves Venice tomorrow. He is going to return to concert singing in Paris & London for the present. Countess Rassini also came in for a short time. At 6 when both were gone I set out for a walk. Called on the Harstons to enquire after the little boy who is much better & without fever but looks white & frail in his bed poor little fellow. Thence went to the Montalbas to enquire for Clara who has influenza. Mr Montalba & Ellen recd me & the former accompanied me home to get some pills for Clara’s cough—& by that time it was nearly my dinner time.
