16 May 1902 — 3 Savile Row
Friday. 16th [May 1902]. Had a visit from Mme Androutzos, daughter of Tripp the artist who married a rascally Neapolitan Greek who turned out a horror has left her to pay his debts & support herself. She is anxious to work. Adeline Lambton came—another sad soul that wants binding up. Then Elaine came to lunch & afterwards took me off to Grosvenor Hse where there was a sale of Welsh Industries to wh the Pss of Wales came. It is the first time I have seen her doing these things wh the Queen used to do under the same name. It makes one realize the changes that have taken place. I dined with Blanche & Vere & they took me to Wyndham’s theatre to see “Still Waters run deep” which I had once seen when I was a girl acted by Wigan– It was very badly done, no real acting & Mary Moore was lamentable. Vere & his mother went behind the scenes before the last act to visit Wyndham. She told him abt my having seen Wigan & he told her that he Wyndham had taken the part of Hawksley with Wigan.
