23 June 1902 — 3 Savile Row
Monday. 23rd [June 1902]. Wrote letters. Blanche called in the morning & we took a short walk together. Nellie went with Arthur Du Cane to take photos of the various streets decorated for the festivities. Augusta Guest came to make a sketch of our old dog Turk. As he was washed on Saturday to prepare him for this he was suspicious & fearing some treachery he refused to obey anyone & we had to muzzle him & lead him into the dining room where Aura had her easel. Arthur Du Cane came to luncheon. Soon after 3 Blanche called for me & took me for a drive & we returned home at 5. Sir Henry Thompson came to tea—also Ruth & Verona Brooke. I walked to Manchester Square with the latter—& back in time to dress for dinner. Ruth & Arthur DC. dined with us. This afternoon the furniture I had bought at Peterboro arrived—my dressing table &c & so my bedroom which had been rather dismantled by the removal of Monty’s furniture is now once more complete. The weather today is fine but rather sultry. Crowds in the streets all day. The King & Queen had a tremendous reception on their return from Windsor this morning– Royal carriages & distinguished Royal guests were to be seen hurrying in all directions–
