11 July 1902 — 3 Savile Row
Friday. 11th [July 1902]. Connie called me up on the telephone & later came to see me to talk over the sale. Nellie had a bad headache & when she returned from the shop to lunch had to remain on the sofa so I stayed with her. Arthur Du Cane came to tea also Mrs Willy Hanson who has been round the world since I saw her– Mrs Wm Whitaker also came & talked over Sale & brought me drawings– Mme Nevada Palmer came to consult me abt a family of Javanese Chiefs who want their daughters to come to England to be educated. I promised to try & find out for her– At 6 I went in a cab to see Lady Poynter & had a little chat with her. Sir Edward was at home & promised me a drawing for my sale. I dined with Duncannons in lieu of Nellie who had to go to bed. Met Mr Lionel Ashley, Oranmores, Mr Henry Packe & Mr Cyril Ponsonby. Home soon after 11. Rumours of coronation next month. Also that the King though recovering from this illness will never be really well again.
