21 August 1902 — Branksome Dene, Poole, Dorset
Thursday. 21st [August 1902]. Directly after lunch Richard, Nela, Bee & I drove over to Canford. We went to the churchyard to visit our graves & took a walk on the terrace & looked into the Great Hall—the family being away. It was a lovely day & the place looked beautiful & renewed many memories– We walked back to the kitchen gardens & the village & made a visit to an old Mrs Whetlock whom we had known since my youth & who had a cracked granddaughter staying with her, poor thing. There we got the lady of the coffee house to give us tea in the tennis court & afterwards set off & drove back to Branksome Dene–
