Friday. 26th December [1902]. Had a visit from the Prefect & Elsie Cassis. We talked over the proposed Sailor’s Hospital– He said the Drs of the Prefettura & Municipio are much against the house in San Polo which is proposed to us by Dr van Someren—being on the ground floor they are said to be damp & unfit for a ward– I said I was certain those Drs were right & that I should personally [be] relieved if they decided against that house as I thought Dr van S. was trying to force our hands on the subject. | |
