19 March 1903 — 3 Savile Row
Thursday. 19th [March 1903]. I woke with a headache & had to remain in bed only getting up on my sofa at 5 for tea & to receive Mrs Willy Hanson. Blanche came to see me in the morning & Nela was in & out. Monty telegraphed to Lady M. Warrender & got her answer that she is absent from town & cannot sing at our concert. Mr S. Beaumont lunched here & gave Nelly £5 for my Sale. I went to dine with Col. & Mrs Anstruther Thompson– Mr Alric Browne took me down & I sat next our host. Rutland House where the Thompsons live is very fine inside with Italian & Spanish wood carvings very tastefully arranged. There was a large party but no one I knew—mostly young & pretty women—& all smartly dressed as they were going on to a ball.
