26 July 1903 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 26th [July 1903]. Miss Eaton & I went to morning service. I left her & went afterwards to the Montalbas to see Ellen’s new oil picture the 4 seasons—which is very prettily imagined & carried out. After lunch we went over to the new Hospital. Home at 5. We dined at 7 & in the midst of our meal the Prefect & his wife came in to bid us good bye as they are going on Tuesday to Belluno. I asked him abt the permit for my Hospital & he told me to send the Dr to him. As in Dr Van Someren’s absence we are employing Dr Tommasini of the prison close by I agreed to send him tomorrow morng to the Prefect. Miss Eaton, Baker & I went to the service at the sailor’s institute & took Mr Harston home afterwards.
