9 August 1903 — Bessborough, Fiddown, County Kilkenny
Sunday. 9th [August 1903]. Anniversary of the King’s coronation. Edward drove B & me to church. We walked home– Myles & Vere & Irène are all 3 here. Blanche a little happier & more rested. News of Bertie satisfactory. After lunch Blanche took me for a drive by [illegible word]. I went to evening service with Irène. I stayed on at Bessborough all the week—going out driving & walking with Blanche every day & playing patience in the evening with Vere. The weather was warm but constantly showery & there was a gale blowing most of the days. one day the Waterford workhouse children came over & we helped to amuse them between the showers of rain. The news of the progress of Bertie were satisfactory & he is to be moved from the rest cure to the sea next week.
