21 October 1903 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 21st [October 1903]. Miss Mundella came in the morng to say her Aunt is not well– She is not pleased with Dr van Someren as a Dr. The woman came bringing me more beads & gave me another lesson in bead threading. Just at lunch time had notice sent me that the Crown P. & Pss of Greece wd arrive at 2.35 so I went directly after lunch to the station to meet them. Their train was 23 mins. late. They were surprised to meet me but gladly came in my gondola & we went to 3 antiquity shops to look for things that they wanted. At Barozzi’s they met Prince Nicky & his wife a handsome Russian Pss. Finally I took the P. & Pss Sofie on board their yacht “Amphitrite” & they invited me in to tea wh we took in the dining saloon– The tea was laid out in a primitive manner for wh Pss Sophie made sending excuses. As the Capt. was anxious to leave Venice before dark I left very soon—& went home. On getting home the girls were all out but had left a message with Baker that Sister Clare had been to say she was taking another patient & wanted more furniture. Baker had prepared it so I took it there in my gondola. I found that Sister C. had given up her own room to a Dutch lady & I consulted with her how we could rearrange the house. So now we are well launched in the work having 2 patients. I got home at 7 just in time to dress for dinner & very tired. Css Olga Mocenigo who is in Venice for a short time dined with us. She was very pleasant & charming as usual. I got a telegram this eveng from Mr Hamilton about the V. Murano Glass Co which tomorrow morng I must hand over to Messrs Marzollo & Arbib. He asks if they are willing to give £100 for the shares wh are in the possession of Messrs Jesurum & Co.
