13 April 1904 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 13th [April 1904]. This morning I took the Princess out to the Eden’s garden which is lovely with spring flowers. The Eden’s received her & were presented– From the garden we went over to the Hospital to visit Sister Katherine. There were 2 or 3 patient sailors– After lunch I ran off to see Lady Radnor about a concert she is trying to get up in Palazzo Rezzonico in aid of the Hospital but which seems likely to fail– At 5 I was home & we started for the Quattro Fontane on the Lido. It was lovely there. We took our tea baskets with us intending to prepare our tea at the Montalba’s cabin. We found Mr Montalba there himself & he entertained us very kindly—we walked on the shore & came home abt 6. Then Eda & I walked off again to Lady Radnor’s to have another talk over the concert which has entirely fallen through for want of musicians.
