14 June 1904 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 14th June [1904]. Wrote letters, painted. Lady (Blanche) Lindsay came to lunch with me—she leaves Venice this week. Went out in gondola at 5 after tea to the Hospital & had a talk with Sister Catherine—then to the Eden’s garden & sat with Carry & Mr Eden chatting, happily finding them alone. Had usual evening reception to wh came Marquis & Msa Sacripante. He Neapolitan—she Russian, Ct Rossini, Belmondo, Morosini, the latter in a large picture hat & high dress—the ladies were preferring morning costume as they are out of an evening in open gondola. It was cooler this evening—but it is an unusually hot summer.
