3 July 1904 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 3rd [July 1904]. A tremendously hot day & after church was unable to do anything but sit & embroider. Signor Malagola came to see me– I was just thinking of going off to the service at the Sailor’s Institute at 7 when Princess Clary called. Her daughter had been with me a long time in the afternoon & had 5 o’cl tea with me– The Princess asked if she talked with me & said she never spoke at home. The Pss offered to take me to the Mot: in her gondola & on the way said she had not slept last night on account of the heat & had been in a state of nerves all day so that she was glad to get someone to talk with and enjoyed a little row with me. She said she is also asthmatical– I was sorry for her. I got back to dinner abt 8.30 & walked back with Mr Harston.
