21 July 1904 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 21st [July 1904]. Busy morning—writing my mems: &c—typed. Very hot weather—towards evening there was a great appearance of a coming storm sudden wind &c. I had gone out at 5 for an hour in gondola & had just got in when Regina had to run round the house in frantic haste to shut windows & shutters & it grew very dark. But the storm passed away with very little rain and distant lightening just eno’ to prevent my going out with the old General—so I played patience & went early to bed.
