31 July 1904 — Belluno
Sunday. 31st [July 1904]. Storm threatened & I was headachy & did not go out till late—sat most of the day in my own room. Further details of de Plehve’s murder. The Vatican & France have also broken with each other. A sign of the decadence of the Papacy. At 4 o’cl drove with Mr Kennedy to Salce to have tea with the Edens who happily were alone till just before we left when the Wiels & Css Coletti turned up. Mr K. & I walked back to Belluno just escaping a storm wh was going round in the mountains.
