3 January 1905 — Castle MacGarrett, Ballindine, County Mayo | |
Tuesday. 3rd [January 1905]. Onie read prayers at 9.15 after wh we breakfasted. Wrote– Went out for a walk & called on a funny old woman called Louise a Switz. nurse who had married an Englishman & settled here– She is old & very ugly & very bent but full of life & fun & was pleased at speaking her native tongue with us. Lunched at 8.45. Drove in dogcart. Called on Mrs Desgras who lives in the [illegible word] is Geoffrey’s sister. News of surrender of Pt Arthur. | |
