17 April 1905 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 17th [April 1905]. A windy day. Dr Bally came to luncheon & I left the Princess to go out with Iduna & walked off with Bally. We went to the Frari to call on Sr Malagola & walked from there to the Zattere. Took the steamer across to the Giudecca– The wind was so high that it was more pleasant than the gondola would have been. Showed our hospital to Dr Bally & then took him to be introduced to the Edens & to see their garden. He left me there & returned by steamer to S. Marks. I went to tea with Ola at the Hosp: & talked housekeeping & so did not get home till nearly 7—as I had also to wait for a steamer to cross the Giudecca canal. Dr Bally dined with us & took leave as he returns home to Switzerland tomorrow. He is a very pleasant clever man but appears to have a bad tempered wife who is rich & torments him.
