29 April 1905 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 29th [April 1905]. There was a grand party this evening at Css Papadopoli’s in honor of the Austrian Minister to which we all went. All Venice was there & it was a very animated affair. We were treated with great kindness & honor– The Minister was presented to me, I was led in to supper by the master of the house, in fact we received all possible civility. Onie Oranmore was much admired– The Duchess of Somerset looked well in a bright crimson damask silk dress– Mrs Poynter being in mourning for the sudden death of her son in law, Mr Loder, did not take part in any of these festivities but went early to bed.
