2 May 1905 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 2nd May [1905]. Today the Emperor of Germany arrived in the Hohenzollern with the Empress & his children to stay here a couple of days before taking the train for Berlin. The arrival of the great yacht accompanied by an iron clad & received & escorted by Italian torpedo boats is an imposing sight. The weather was not brilliant but remained good. The arrival was abt 10 o’cl so we were about and out most of the morning– In the afternoon the Duchess of Somerset & I went on board & wrote our names in the Empress’ book. We perceived in the distance smart ladies sitting at tea & afterwards found that the ladies of the 2 Italian Queens had been invited on board, & with them the celebrated Css Anina Morosini & her daughter. Baroness Reinelt dined with us this evening & afterwards I had rather a large reception.
