2 June 1905 — Mezzaratta, Bologna | |
Friday. 2nd June [1905]. We went to visit Countess Cavazza at her villa a little way out of the town & there met several people also calling, amongst them 2 young girls one of whom tho’ only 14 sang with a most powerful tho’ untaught voice. She was a handsome girl & looked twice her age. I had settled to return to Venice tomorrow but seeing how depressed Da Laura is about her eyesight I decided to remain till Monday. I advised the cutting down of two trees in a clump she had long ago planted in her garden & we superintended the doing of it & so the time passed pleasantly away. On | |
