23 July 1905 — Tile House, Uxbridge, Middlesex
Sunday. 23rd [July 1905]. Kate & I walked to W. Hyde village church in the morning a very quiet little place & rural congregation. Good organist & singing. After lunch Charlie’s sister came to say they had come with a motor to ask him to go out. He could not go so they took Kate & she did not return till past 8 A.M. having been nearly to Oxford & had a 70 mile spin. They had been caught in a downpour of rain as it was a stormy day. We had no rain at home. Mrs Barnes came over to call from the Marsh Farm.
