15 September 1905 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 15th [September 1905]. I heard that Bss Reinelt wanted to see me as she had just arrived at the Hotel Victoria so I went out in the morning to see her & returned to entertain Marchese & Marchesa Cassis at lunch—they also being de passage. I heard from Mrs Curtis that old Genl de Horsey had had a bad fall. On leaving their house last night he had insisted on walking to the Piazza. Being almost blind & having only one arm he had fallen on the Ponte San Moisé & cut his head. He was taken home & had his wound stitched up– Having heard this I sent to enquire after the old gentleman & to my surprise was told that he was out! However I met him in his gondola & he told me he was much better. Several people came to tea in the afternoon.
