22 November 1905 — Abbottabad | |
Wednesday. 22nd [November 1905]. We went to a ball given at the Club where we saw all the officers of the station & their wives. It was very nicely done– The room had been newly built– I met there Col. Woon the commanding officer & found that he had been a friend & colleague of Henry’s nephew Julian Layard who had died on the Shipka pass—& that he had also been in Turkey during that Russo Turkish war– He was very pleased to talk it all over. | |
