12 December 1905 — En route to Jaipur
Tuesday. 12th [December 1905]. We reached Delhi at 6.30—& had to change there for Jaipur on to the narrower gauge– We found the Delhi station all smartened up & many officials in uniform waiting for the arrival of the Wales’ who were to arrive at 7.30. Our train left just before that & we travelled on till 5 P.M. At Jaipur we were met by a native gentleman who was introduced by a note from Col. Sir Swinton Jacob– He has brought us a carriage of the Maharajah’s wh conveyed us to the hotel. Our guide then went away & returned with Sir Swinton who was very cheery & arranged that we should set out tomorrow to see the sights. We were glad to dine & go early to bed after our late long journey.
