21 March 1906 — En route to Venice
Wednesday. 21st [March 1906]. It became bitterly cold & as we passed Greece there was snow on the hills– We arrived at Brindisi abt 4 o’clock—& Mr Uloth the manager of the P&O Co met me very kindly & saw my luggage thro’ the Italian customs. I had just time to do this & drive off to the station & get into the sleeping car of the train for Bologna when the train started at 5.10. I had to come off without my luggage as there was not time for it to join me.
