6 April 1906 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 6th [April 1906]. I went to the Calcina at 10.30 to pick up Cav. Arbib & he went with me to the Hospital to look at the work we want to have done there. Gave his own builder instructions to make plans & estimates for work to be done there. It was a lovely morning. I went over to the Eden’s garden to give Mr Eden some seeds I had for flowers– The garden is bright with daffodils, forsythia, violets &c & it felt like spring. The changes this year are very remarkable– In the afternoon I went to the Madonna del Orto to call on Mrs Humphery Johnson who lives in the Palazzo Contarini wh her husband has bought. It has lovely rooms & fine ceilings—& a beautiful garden. The old Contarini portraits still hang there having been sold along with the Palace– I went on to call on Mrs Hulton at SS. Giov & Paolo. Saw her also—then home– Visits from Mme Blaas & Dss della Grazia who has lately lost her daughter Caroline a very delicate creature who never recovered her last confinement. The Belmondos & Malagola dined with me–
