18 April 1906 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 18th [April 1906]. A tremendously busy day. The Engineer Mattei came in the morning to settle accounts for work done this last year in this house &c– After lunch I went to Hotel Danieli to take Mme Vlasto & her boy out. Unfortunately it was a wet day—so I took her to see the Montalba studio & the V. & Murano glass at San Vio– After tea the English Consul brought Mrs Assheton Smith to call—she is sister in law of my friend Lady Vivian—handsome young woman– Then came Mr Merrick & I took him up to the library where we went into the question of the invitations to the party I am giving for the Bishop of Gib. on Saturday next. He undertook to send out to Eng: & U.S. residents who are unknown to me. Malagola looked in in the evening to have a chat.
