29 April 1906 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 29th [April 1906]. Sent for the Dr who says I have a touch of influenza & must keep my bed. Recd a letter from Capt. Mark Kerr saying he was here with his Adl Prince Louis of Battenberg at Hotel Europe. He was so badly lodged in a bathroom that he begged I wd let him come here wh I at once wrote to beg he would do—& that he would bring anyone else who was with him. The “Drake” the Admiral’s ship lies just beyond the Lido being too big to come nearer. Captain Kerr answered that he wd like to bring 2 middies & this he did– My servants at once received them & made them at home. Mrs Curtis paid me a short visit in the afternoon. I had fever all day.
