1 May 1906 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 1st May [1906]. At last I was able to leave my bed & get up for lunch when I made the acquaintance of the 6 boys staying with me under the care of Capt. Mark Kerr. It is a joy to have such nice fresh young faces round me– I felt the cold & damp pretty keenly & after lunch retired to my room got hot water bottle for my feet & wrapped myself in my big fur pelisse. In the evening Angela Reinelt & Contessina Margherita Brandolin dined with me & I had afterwards my usual reception. Tho’ was rainy & blowy still a good many people braved & came—we had a bright evening.
