Thursday. 6th [December 1906]. I dined with Ethel Pez di Contadone—a large party– Met Lady Chesterfield who said she had known me years ago—also some Americans– The man seemed a nice quiet creature– She was amusing but scandalised me by her reckless talk when I asked her how many children she had, she answered “only one & nothing would induce me to have another.” | |
