Monday. 10th [December 1906]. Mrs Silver came to lunch & we settled that we must have some way of making money in aid of the Restaurant in Mile End Road. She proposes doing a little play in this house on 14th Feb. This evening I dined at the ladies’ Lyceum Club by the invitation of Countess Martinengo to meet the Italian Ambassador Marchese San Giuliano. There were many people & some speechifying by ladies wh always makes me blush for them. Home soon after 11– | |
