8 April 1907 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 8th April 1907. The Oranmores are staying with me. She has just recovered from an attack of measles & came here for a change– Connie is also here. They all 3 arrived here last Friday at Midnight direct from London luggageless, their box is only following them by Sunday morning. Canon Ragg has been staying with me this last week & left last night to join his wife & baby at Menaggio. We all 4 went to lunch with Sir Donald & Lady Currie on board their yacht– They are a charming old couple– She a pretty little old lady with white curls round her pretty fresh face—& with nice blue eyes—& having pretty manners. After lunch Sir Donald showed off a tiny siskin he has in a cage who rang a bell & pulled up a leveret to get his seed. On leaving the yacht we went to the Piazza & I took Onie to see Baroness Reinelt after wh we joined Geoffrey & Connie on the Piazza & I brought the latter home. Several people came to tea—Mme Wiel, Mme Noce, Mme Blaas. The latter asked to bring an American gentleman to introduce to me. I at first assented & then thought he had better come thro’ his consul & ran after her to tell her so. Played the harmonium to Connie’s piano accompt & was discouraged to find how much I had forgotten my music.
