21 May 1907 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 21st May [1907]. I went off to the Hospital directly after 9 o’cl breakfast to talk over the furnishing of the new room with Miss Chaffey & hurried back soon after 11 as Cav. Arbib had appointed to call with a friend of his to see Edward in the hope of making a new Co for the Venezia-Murano. After a long talk with them wh came to no conclusion Edward & I arranged the furniture & put the finishing touch to the house. After lunch I arranged the plants of the Belvedere. B. & Ed. went to the Belmondos to tea to see Princess Aimée Cariati who is on a visit there & who has just lost her husband. I went out late in gon: with Connie to the Piazza—feeling tired & heady. The Duke & Dss della Grazia & Mr Horatio Brown dined with me & there was the usual reception to wh a good many Italians came & it was very animated. There were also a good many travellers from hotels such as the Leverton Harris & Lady Stewart, but all were gone by a little after 11.
