14 June 1907 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 14th [June 1907]. After lunch I had a visit from Sra Pascolato to tell me how the Croce Azzurea is getting on. It seems to be very useful, but short of money. At 5 I went out in gondola & fetched Angela at the Hotel Victoria & took her to see the “Corsair.” Mr Morgan received us very politely. Just as we were leaving the P. & Pss Giovanelli came on board. We went from there to the public gardens & sat there & had refreshments. At 7 we called on old Bss Ritter at the H. Britannia. She was at home & we sat with her awhile. She is of Trieste & a dear old lady. Was dropped at home & sent on Angela to her hotel. It was a very hot scirocco day & it rained a little in the morning. I went to ask the Curtis permission to dine with them as my kitchen fire is under repair. At 9 I went to La Calcina & sat on the water terrace with Mr Woods & the Montalbas whom we caught just returning from Lido. Joined later by the Belmondos & Arbib.
