21 June 1907 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 21st [June 1907]. I remained a little later in bed to rest—the Collins have left this morng for Milan—but I got a message from Angela begging me to go to her at 11 so I hurried up & went to her. I found her put out with me because I had invited 2 people she does not approve of to my party last Tuesday. I had some difficulty in soothing her—& finally she forgave me. At 5 Baroness Treves came here in her steam launch to take me out for a “gita.” Angela joined the party & also Ct & Css Rassini & a young Ct Viola. We went to S. Francesco in Deserto—landed there & went into the church & round the garden of cypresses. Then by a longer round Tre Porti & S. Nicoletto back to Venice we stopped at S. Elisabetta to drop our hostess who is now living at the Lido. I got home after 8 and found Canon Ragg waiting to dine with me. Sra Malagola came & sat with us while we dined & afterwards we went to La Calcina & sat on the terrace over the water till 11 o’cl & were joined by Mr Woods, the Belmondos, S. Arbib & Miss Chaffey. It was a very hot night.
