9 July 1907 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 9th [July 1907]. Took my bath at the Lido. Modelled. Afternoon over to hospital to consult as to whether it was near eno’ to completion to ask the Queen to visit it. We decided that it was not so Angela fetched me in gondola at 6 & we went to the Public Gardens—& I got back late for dinner to wh I had invited Ct & Css Belmondo. We dined as soon as I came in & I dressed afterwards. This being my usual reception evening a few people came but not many. Amongst those who came was a Prof: Ross Director of the Boston Museum (US) & an old cousin Miss Matheson. He is an interesting old gentleman & seems to have travelled a great deal in Spain & elsewhere.
