11 July 1907 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 11th [July 1907]. I went off to Lido as usual & on my return was so tired & headachy that I remained in bed for the rest of the day. Bianca Arbib came to see me & brought me a lovely basket of fruit from their garden. Sra Malagola also came—full of trouble over her domestic affairs. I asked her if Q. Margherita was not going today to the Frari to see the Archives. She said she was there at that very moment but as Malagola is still away she had sent her son to make his excuses– I told her I thought she ought to have been also there to receive H.M. & I advised her to go back at once—so she trotted off. Hardly had she been gone 10 minutes before a message came to say the Queen had asked for her—so I was right.
