14 July 1907 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 14th [July 1907]. Went to church in the morng & after service to see Angela at Hotel Victoria. She told me she knew nothing about financial affairs when at her husband’s death she had found herself in possession of such a large fortune & she had at once determined to learn the business & to manage it herself. She upbraided me for not having done the same thing. I acknowledge my stupidity but really feel that it would be very wearisome to me to give up time to such things when I would be modelling or working at interesting things. In the afternoon Sra Malagola called & Srina Gosetti & I gave them tea. I began to feel very tired & stupid so as soon as they left I went up to my room to rest. My surprise was great to find I was in a high state of fever so I went to bed–
