17 July 1907 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 17th [July 1907]. Up & about as usual. I went out in gondola with Sra Malagola who had come to call. I went to see old General de Horsey who has just returned here from Hyères. He is 81, blind nearly—but still bright & grand seigneur. He said he was glad to be back & found his house so pleasant & in such good order! He was having an uncomfortable untidy meal of tea & cake. The carpet was dirty & unswept—his servants are as careless as ever. I returned home to go out at 6 in gondola with Angela returning for dinner.
