18 July 1907 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 18th [July 1907]. A Miss Alice van Vechten Brown came in the morng to see the pictures. She is art professor at Wellesley College Boston U.S. a nice looking young woman—very nicely dressed & unlike an American. She brought me an introduction from Mr Hugh Poynter from Constantinople. Modelled. Went out with Angela at 6 as usual. After dinner Arbib came & sat talking about his affairs till after 11. Things seem a little brighter. He told me of many kindnesses he had from friends & one case of crass ingratitude. I told him to dwell on the former & forget the latter!
