25 July 1907 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 25th [July 1907]. A Mr Rowland anxious to be employed by the Venezia Murano Co called on me in the morning to interest me in him. He seemed a nice old man. I told him he must refer to the directors in London. Abt 12 Guggenheim came talked incessantly on the V. Murano affairs & inconclusively. He looked at some old Spanish nails I want to use to decorate my front door & took them off to consider the case. It was stormy & not very hot & looked like rain all day. I called at Guggenheims at 3.30 to see a handsome lectern he has had made for our Queen & wh is now ready to be sent off. I went on to the Arbib’s & found Mr A. & Bianca & I sat talking to them in the garden. They gave me coffee in the arbor & I sat there till nearly 7 giving up going over to the hospital on account of the rain wh came down gently. The accounts of Ivor are unsatisfactory but it is of no use my going to England & I remain on here.
