30 August 1907 — Abano
Friday. 30th [August 1907]. After I was dressed & had had my fango Bianca came & sat in my room & we worked till lunch at 11.30. She read aloud to me some interesting old MSS letters she had found of the end of 18th century between people of the Venetian society, amongst them the drawing of the wedding feast of the son of the Duc de Polignac. Cav. Arbib bought them some time ago from the Gradenigo family & had never looking into them before. Bianca has now undertaken the job & finds them very interesting. The Ct d’Artois is often mentioned. We went out towards 4 when a thunderstorm came up & there was some very grateful & refreshing rain. It is odd to see the garden fountains steaming—the water in them being hot & the air cool. We played patience in the evening.
