17 November 1907 — Paris
Sunday. 17th [November 1907]. I went to morning service in the English Ch: Rue d’Aguesseau & heard Bp Ormsby the Chaplain preach. After lunch I went off to La Muette to spend the rest of the day with Sophy. We had a nice long talk. At tea time Mrs (Marie) Hopkins came in—the funny little American friend of hers whom I had met there before—a great friend of Adeline Bedford’s. She is amusing; a little spick & span woman with a rather exaggerated strained manner wh Sophy says comes from her unhappy life, her husband being more or less out of his mind. At dinner there were Mme d’Arcy the Ct Franqueville’s widowed daughter & M. de Stuers the Dutch Minister—who is amusing & interesting, a collector of bric a brac & knowing people all over the world. We had some amusing stories from him.
